Charlton Lantern
T
he
Lantern fixed itself as a
national
symbol
in 1773 when Paul
Revere and
his fellow patriots used it
to signal across the
bay from
thebalcony of Boston's Old North Church,
the British were approaching. After the Revolutionary Warthe craftsmen of
the day
turned out a
stunning array of Lanterns. Manywere
far more
interesting and beautiful
thanmost colonial fixtures so
widely produced today. The
designs in
this collection are superlative examples of
the lantern maker's art.
All have been reproduced from
the originals. They
have been adapted for
size and exterior use.
