Wood Turned Center Chandelier C170-8
A reproduction of the Chandelier hanging in the North Parlor of the Sheldon-Hawks House
Once rather simple,
chandeliers became intricate
statments of taste during the
eighteenth century. their
wood-turned balusters
supported thin iron arms,
octopus fashion, on the ends
of which perched the candles
in bobeches. From primitive
to elaborate settings, it was not long
before they were the most decorative
feature of the room.
