Probably
made in England during the generation before the revolution, the
Lantern in the kitchen of the Dwight House is constructed of tinned
sheet iron and glass with
a punch work top. 
Its
maker though unknown was a skilled
designer and metal worker.
Made
at the end of the
18th century, this
tinned lantern has a
hinged door and
guards
to protect the
glass. Its
diminutive
size makes
it an ideal
fixture
for
hallways
and
small
rooms
